The beginnings of fall

Fall is my favorite season in Colorado. After the hot, dry summers, getting cool air and plenty of sunshine at the same time seems like heaven.

Today is my favorite kind of day. Having grown up in Colorado, I am heliotropic, which means that sunlight (or lack thereof) can affect my my mood. In other words, overcast days make me want to stay in bed all day, or at the very least curl up on the couch with a book and do nothing else all day.

Today, however, is nice and sunny, but still with that autumn bite in the air. I've turned the heat on in the house, but it's not cool enough yet that I can't open the windows at the same time. I even worked out on the porch a little today, until my toes got too cold that is.

Really, I couldn't have ordered up a more perfect day.

Hey, sounds just like the weather in PA today. I'm an autumn gal too, although I really miss the long days. My mood tends to plummet from a lack of sunshine too. In the winter. I take a break from work at 4:00, just so I can get 45-60 minutes of outdoor sunlight before darkness sets in. I'm not looking forward to those days, but on the plus side, daylight savings time has been extended this year. Standard time only lasts from November to March now (I think). God bless the government for something, cuz it sure isn't my taxes that are due at the end of the week! LOL

Ha! I'm writing a check out for said taxes right this moment.

I agree with you -- the shorter days are a definite downside. Your early break is a good idea, though -- maybe I'll try that this year, too.
