Crazy days abound

I have had a hard time maintaining a schedule of any sort the last week or so.  My freelancing time last week was cut rather short, since the kids I nanny for had a half day on Thursday and no school on Friday, and I worked some long hours.  This week will be much the same, as I agreed to babysit for another family until 2pm Thursday and Friday, as their daughter's school is closed.

This week is my last before my nanny schedule changes to three days a week, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  I am also quite in demand with my schedule lightening up, though, as I have another family that might be interested in hiring me as a part-time nanny on my newly acquired Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I am not sure whether I want to take them up on that or not -- I hate telling people no, and since it's for an infant I would be able to work while he naps... but at the same time, I've really been looking forward to being able to freelance full-time two days a week.

Today was another busy one, although in a fun way -- I met my new leaser at the barn and she rode Rondo again.  She'll start leasing him in November but we're taking advantage of the opportunity to ride together a few times before then, so that if she has any questions, she can ask me while she's on him.  It's been a good thing so far.  It did take up a great deal of my morning, however, and I had so much to catch up on afterward -- a weekend's worth of emails and postponed tasks -- that I felt like I didn't accomplish much of anything.

Luckily I will have tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday mornings to myself.  I plan to take full advantage of that!

I hope you're finding that time for yourself, Katharine. So tough to do without feeling guilt (at least for me!).

Sounds like the nanny work is a good gig!

I have a hard time saying no too, Lori, which means I often end up sacrificing time for myself. That is one thing I need to work on. I do get time to myself, but sometimes in unexpected ways -- like today, when the family I nanny for told me they don't need me today. I'm actually pretty pleased, as it gives me a day off right before the two busiest days of my week. I'll have a chance to get my freelance work out of the way AND get out to the barn later to see my horses!
