At this point I'm not even sure how I am still awake. Since I woke up a little after 9 o'clock yesterday morning, I've gotten less than four hours of sleep, and all of that was around midday today.
I'm sure anyone who realizes today was Tax Day can figure out the reason for my lack of sleep. I used to be so much better organized, and even used to get my taxes done early, but the last few years I've been catching up on my bookkeeping for the year and working on taxes all in the last few days before Tax Day.
I did, luckily, start on some of the bookkeeping last week. That's what kills me the most -- recording all my income and expenses at the end of the year. I used to record everything in spreadsheets throughout the year, but a few years ago I gradually stopped keeping up on it. This year was the worst; I had to record everything for the entire year.
It did give me the incentive I needed to get organized, though, and I feel motivated now to keep up with it this year, so hopefully next year's Tax Day won't be so bad.
I'm not too upset about pulling an all-nighter, though -- not only was I able to keep going all night without getting tired, but it also gave me a chance to see the blood moon. I kept taking breaks periodically and heading outside to check on the progress of the lunar eclipse. It was beautiful when the moon was fully covered and glowed reddish-orange, but my favorite parts were when it was only partially covered, and you could see it shining brightly on one side and glowing a dim red on the other!
What about everyone else? Did your tax season go smoothly, and did you have a chance to check out the blood moon Monday night?
