Busy summer

My apologies for neglecting my blog this summer.  Even though I was no longer nannying regularly, I had picked up a couple of new families on an as-needed basis.  In addition, halfway through the summer V. and A.'s parents started asking for my help here and there.  And in the gaps in between, I was freelancing, working at the barn, doing projects around the house, and trying to carve out some free time here and there.

As a result, I was fairly busy until the kids went back to school this week.  Not as busy as I've been in previous summers -- not as busy as last summer -- but still busy enough that I completely forgot to blog all summer.Although the kids have all gone back to school now, I'll still be pretty busy, because that was only one part of my workload.  However, it was also a pretty major part, not to mention a majorly inconsistent part, so my schedule should be much more manageable now.

Despite how busy I was, however, the summer wasn't without its accomplishments.  The biggest one was getting back to work on my Ruby Ransome novels.  I made my goal during July's session of Camp NaNoWriMo to put some time on revisions, and managed to accomplish my goal.  I still have lots of work to do, and I've realized I'm probably not going to finish it by the time NaNoWriMo rolls around in November, but it feels good to have gotten the ball rolling again.

Now that I'm looking at a more consistent freelance schedule, I'm thinking a lot about what changes I want to make to ensure nothing falls by the wayside.  I have so many things I want to do: client work, fiction, blogs, ebook ideas... and that's not counting things I want to do in my spare time, such as the various projects around the house or reading or riding my horses or playing the piano.

But more on that later.  For now I'm just glad to be back to blogging again!
